North Park Featured Presentations

Golf amenities, a surf park, and youth recreational facilities are some of the features that will be proposed for North Park during presentations at Sugar Sand Park's Willow Theatre on Oct. 6-7.

Nine companies responded to the Greater Boca Raton Beach and Parks District's request for recreational facilities proposals. All will be provided the opportunity to convince District Commissioners that their proposal fills a need on North Park's west side or a portion of the east side.

“We're excited to see the proposals for North Park features,” District chair Erin Wright said. “It looks like we'll have some interesting ideas.”

Each company will have 10 minutes to make their presentation. Commissioners will question the presenters following each presentation. Members of the Boca Raton community will have the opportunity to express their opinions at the conclusion of each evening.

“We want to hear what the community thinks of the proposed features,” Commissioner Bob Rollins said. “Their opinions are important to us and will impact our decisions.”

Commissioners will rank the proposed features from favorite to least favorite. They can choose to move forward on one feature, multiple features, none of them, or table their decisions pending further clarification. If they do find a feature to their linking, the District will begin a contract negotiation with the presenting firm.

The proposals needed to be submitted to the District by noon on Sept. 17. District officials determined the presentation order through a random drawing. The following is the order for the proposal presentations:

October 6
Newell Golf
YMCA
Boys & Girls Club
Old Tom / Kemper Sports
Boca Sports & Entertainment

October 7
Boca Surf LLC
Wave House Boca
8am Golf
Ellish Builders – Boca Links

On both days the meetings begin at 5:15 p.m.

In 2018 the District purchased the defunct Ocean Breeze Golf Course. That land is in the process of being converted into North Park. The District retired the bond for the North Park property in the summer of 2025 - nearly seven years before it was due – allowing for accelerated development of the west side.

Walking trails and bike trails are some of the most desirable features contained within the North Park conceptual plan.

In June Boca Paddle officially broke ground on what will become Boca Raton's first indoor pickleball and padel courts. In September North Park's Traffic Garden officially opened, offering a fun and safe way for children to learn bicycle safety.
