Community Involvement

The District maintains a close working relationship with the City of Boca Raton and other local governmental organizations to manage, fund, and operate a variety of properties and amenities within our community. These relationships include:

City of Boca Raton

The District contracts with the City of Boca Raton through interlocal agreements to provide and preserve quality parks for recreation and leisure purposes. This entails the staffing and maintenance of our facilities, along with the development of educational and cultural programs that offer inviting and relevant activities, in attractive settings, which are affordable and readily accessible to the District’s residents.

Palm Beach School District

Funding has been provided by the District to improve local public schools for the benefit of public programs. These include the athletic fields at Don Estridge High Tech Middle School and the lights for basketball and tennis courts at Boca Middle School. Access to and use of these facilities is governed by the Palm Beach County School District’s rules and regulations.

Florida Atlantic University

The contract for maintenance of the soccer fields at FAU is financed by the District and operated by the university. Access to and use of these facilities is governed by Florida Atlantic University’s rules and regulations.

Gumbo Limbo Nature Center

Acquired in the 1970s, the District continues to support the Gumbo Limbo Nature Center in partnership with the City of Boca Raton, FAU, and the Friends of Gumbo Limbo.
