Safety First At Traffic Garden

Boca Raton parents can take advantage of an upcoming day off from school to help their children learn bicycle safety.

On Wednesday, Feb. 18 – a teacher work day for Palm Beach County Schools – parents are invited to bring their children and bicycles to North Park's Traffic Garden for the Kids Safety Fair presented by the City of Boca Raton's Traffic Department.

The free event created for kids aged 5-10 runs from 9-11 a.m. Children must be accompanied by an adult and should bring their own bicycles or push scooters. No electric vehicles are allowed.

Along with learning the rules of the road children can partake in a free helmet fitting, and one lucky visitor will leave with a free helmet.

Several organizations will have booths at the Safety Fair with information and giveaways.

Children will receive a passport and a drawstring backpack they can use to collect trinkets and a certificate from the booths.

Organizations scheduled to have booths include:

  • Florida Department of Transportation,
  • Boca Raton Mobility
  • Boca Raton Police Department
  • Boca Raton Fire Department
  • Safe Kids Palm Beach County
  • Drowning Prevention Coalition
  • Boca Raton Library
  • Boca Raton Ocean Rescue
  • Children’s Science Explorium

This will be the first major event held at the Traffic Garden since its ribbon cutting six months prior. During that time the Traffic Garden has become a favorite for families with young children learning how to ride bikes.

The Traffic Garden also offers seating and a shade structure.

It's located on Jeffrey St., just west of NW 2nd Ave. in the Boca Teeca section of Boca Raton.
