Fabulous Ways To Celebrate 250

America is about to turn 250, and Greater Boca Raton Beach and Park District parks will play prominent roles in local celebrations.

Sports will be featured before the celebration gets to the rocket's red glare.

The Liberty Cup Racquet Tournament will celebrate two separate champions at different locations.

The Patch Reef Paddle and Racquet Club serves as the site for one of July 4th's opening events, delivering the pickleball portion of the fun.

Picklers will take to the covered pickleball complex beginning at 8 a.m. for holiday dinks and slams.

The round-robin, bracket-style tournament will be divided into 4 divisions: Mixed Doubles – Ages 50+, Mixed Doubles – All Ages, Women’s Doubles – All Ages (up to 4.0 level) and Men’s Doubles – All Ages (up to 4.0 level).

Entry fees are $35 for residents, $50 for non-residents, which includes a participant shirt. The event is capped at 75 participants, with winners receiving a Liberty Cup trophy.

Players can register for the tournament at the Racquet Center on St. Andrew's Blvd. or online here. There will be no on-site registration the day of the tournament.

For those who prefer a larger racquet and clay courts, the Boca Raton Racquet Center hosts the tennis side of the Liberty Cup.

That event begins at 10 a.m. Participants will also receive shirts, with winners claiming trophies. The entry fee is $35 for residents, $43.75 for non-residents. Register online or at the Racquet Center.

The event will also offer a “super” clinic taught by four of the Racquet Center's pros.

The afternoon brings a traditional summer block party to District-owned Sugar Sand Park. The free Fabulous Fourth event features something for revelers of all ages.

Planned events and attractions include kids crafts, a DJ and yard games, along with food trucks and vendors selling their wares.

The celebration concludes with Boca Raton's famous fireworks display launched from District-funded Countess de Hoernle Park. The free Fabulous Finale presented by the City of Boca Raton and the District includes live music. The 20-minute fireworks display begins at 9:15 p.m.

The day's events launch at 7:15 a.m. with the Firecracker 5K at FAU.

Countries only turn 250 once! Join us to celebrate.
