North Park Skatepark & Pump Track

The Greater Boca Raton Beach & Park District is moving forward with plans for a new skatepark and pump track at North Park to provide a modern, inclusive recreational facility for skaters, cyclists and riders of varying ages and skill levels.

The project grew out of requests from members of the local skating community who expressed that the existing approximately 10,000-square-foot skatepark at Memorial Park, originally constructed in 1998, no longer meets the community's recreational needs. Expansion of the existing facility is also significantly constrained by the site and existing infrastructure.

About the Project

The proposed facility is planned for the southeast portion of North Park and is being designed as a custom concrete skatepark with an asphalt pump track, offering features for different ages and ability levels.

Planning has also included consideration of accessibility, lighting, landscaping and buffering, visibility and security, and potential noise impacts to surrounding properties.

The District received a $32,600 Plant-A-Park grant, which helped fund the community workshops, survey and conceptual design process.

Current Status

Public engagement and conceptual planning have been completed, and the District is continuing to advance design, permitting and required City approvals. The project must complete the applicable City review and permitting process before construction can begin.

Work is already underway to develop North Park, what will soon become Boca Raton's newest major park.

In 2018 the District purchased the defunct Ocean Breeze Golf Course in the Boca Teeca section of east Boca Raton. The District retired the bond in the summer of 2025 - nearly seven years before it was due – speeding the development process.

Before designing North Park, District Commissioners held multiple workshops to garner community input for the features Boca Raton residents would like to see within the park.

Those workshops identified walking trails and bike trails as some of the most desirable features. North Park will also make a concerted effort to preserve green space.

The District entered a Public-Private Partnership with Boca Paddle to create an indoor pickleball and padel facility within North Park. Boca Paddle broke ground on the 19-pickleball, 6-padel court project in June of 2025 with plans of a grand opening in 2026.

Around the same time as the Boca Paddle groundbreaking a new feature popped up North Park. In July crews began converting pavement on Jeffrey St. west of NW 2nd Ave. that had previously been tennis courts into the Traffic Garden. Traffic gardens offer children a fun opportunity to learn bicycle and road safety in a visually appealing area free of cars.

The Traffic Garden is open for enjoyment now. Restrooms and a shaded seating area from which parents can monitor their children have been added since its opening. There is a lot adjacent to the Traffic Garden for vehicle parking.

Other proposed, but yet-to-be-approved, features that could become part of North Park in the coming years are a field house, a skatepark, and aquatic facilities.
